“The front desk at the Sheriff’s Station received a call this evening from a caller who recognized the vehicle from the photo attached to (a) previous Nixle report,” said a Nixle sent out by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Tuesday evening. “The vehicle and suspect have been identified, and Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Detectives are actively investigating the incident.”

The female student was walking near Soledad Canyon Road and Shangri La Drive at about 7 a.m. when the suspect reportedly approached her, said Shirley Miller, public information officer for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“She was approached by a man driving a dark green Audi convertible who slowed down and shouted for her to ‘get in the car,'” stated a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Nixle news release. “The student started yelling at him, creating a commotion which caused the suspect to drive off.”

The suspect was described as a white male in his 30’s with reddish blond hair.

The student took video of the suspect’s car as he drove away.

Officials from the William S. Hart Union High School District sent an email to parents Tuesday afternoon regarding the incident.

Dear Parents, We want to alert you to a situation that occurred this morning before school. A high school student was walking to school when a man described as being in his mid-30s with brown hair and driving a dark green Audi convertible, pulled up alongside of the girl and told her to get in. Luckily, our student had the wherewithal to say no, yell and made enough of a commotion to make the man quickly drive away. Deputies from the SCV Sheriff’s Station were made aware of the incident immediately and they are investigating the matter vigorously. We want to applaud the way this young lady proactively took control of the situation and hope that it can be an example to other families. This is an opportunity to talk to your kids about what to do in these situations. Don’t fall silent, walk in pairs or groups and always be safe. Thank you

  1. Wow! Great presence of mind for the young lady to take the photo so quickly. Perhaps the result of good training.

  2. Remarkable young woman who’s actions saved her as well as others most likely. Let’s hope he’s caught!

  3. Great job by the student and excellent work by the Sheriff to identify the perp.
Not all students can walk in pairs…..So in those cases stay on the sidewalks and don’t cut through parking lot’s. Parents…..talk openly and often to your kids regarding safety.
