Man Tased, Arrested During Attempted Robbery In Newhall

A man was arrested for attempted robbery after he allegedly tried to steal money from a person at a Wells Fargo ATM in Newhall Monday.

Around 11:30 a.m. Monday, deputies responded to the Wells Fargo in the 24100 block of Lyons Avenue in Newhall regarding an attempted robbery, said Deputy Mariela Picard, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The suspect… got into a verbal altercation with the victim as they were getting cash out of the ATM,” Picard said.

The suspect attempted to rob the person at the ATM, Sgt. Treadway with the SCV Sheriff’s Station confirmed.

For reasons unknown, when deputies arrived, the suspect was tased by deputies.

“A patient was found in the back of a vehicle with Taser barbs in the abdominal region,” said Justin Yang, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “Upon assessment it was determined that it was in the best interest of the patient to be transported to the nearest hospital for further evaluation.”

The suspect, identified as Anthony Mazzucca, 34, from Los Angeles was arrested and booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
