Murder Suspect Remains At-Large Following New Year’s Eve Valencia Shooting

A murder suspect in connection to a New Year’s Eve shooting remains at large after a person of interest was released.

Hours after a person was murdered in the 25000 block of Vista Fairways Drive in Valencia New Year’s Eve, a person of interest was detained by law enforcement after they showed up to the crime scene, according to Lt. Art Spencer with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.

“We had a person of interest detained, but they were released,” Spencer told KHTS.

Although the person detained was released, detectives say they will not be fully in the clear until the investigation is fully complete.

As of Thursday, Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the Valencia murder, however, are not releasing any information into who the suspect or suspects may be.

The victim of the shooting was transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending the next of kin.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
