A fugitive from Nevada was arrested Thursday, his birthday, after allegedly breaking into a Valencia home.

Around 8 a.m. Friday, deputies responded to the 27200 block of Bushmallow Court in Valencia regarding a trespassing call, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“It was reported a male adult smashed a window and broke into an unoccupied house,” Arriaga said. “Deputies arrived on scene and detained a male matching the suspect description, later confirmed to be the suspect.”

During a search of the suspect, deputies located an “excessive amount of money” in his possession and discovered he was a wanted person out of Nevada with full extradition for burglary and assault, according to Arriaga.

Deputies believed the money was stolen, Arriaga said.

Benjamin Reinhardt, 40, a transient, was arrested and booked for burglary, being a fugitive from justice and receiving stolen property, all felonies, Arriaga added.

He was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and remains in custody at this time.
