A Newhall man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly stole a truck and went to In-N-Out Burger before getting arrested.

Around 1:40 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to the 24400 block of Main Street in Newhall regarding a stolen vehicle, said Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“Through field investigation, the suspect… was found to have located an unlocked truck with keys inside and took it for a drive to a local In-N-Out Burger,” Miller said. “During the unauthorized use of the vehicle, (the suspect) reportedly picked up an unattended scooter and placed it in the bed of the truck.”

The suspect also allegedly stole personal items from the truck’s console, according to Miller.

Deputies located and arrested Hassan Lyons-Moore, 24, from Newhall for felony grand theft and misdemeanor petty theft, according to Miller.

The exact location of where Lyonsmoore was located was not released.

He was released Sunday with a scheduled court appearance pending, Miller said.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
