Newhall Woman Arrested After Allegedly Trying To Stab Someone With Kitchen Knife

A woman was arrested Sunday night after allegedly attempting to stab someone with a kitchen knife in her home in Newhall.

At around  10:30 p.m. Sunday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station arrested 41-year-old Isela Garcia on felony charges of assault with a deadly weapon. On the 21300 block of Bottletree Lane in Newhall

“The suspect was reportedly in an argument with the victim,” wrote Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station. “The suspect allegedly came towards the victim with a kitchen knife in an attempt to stab her.”

Garcia, whose home address was listed on the same block of Bottletree Ln. as the reported location of the crime, was taken into custody and transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Jail for booking.

The exact section of the California Penal Code cited in the arrest, 245(a)(1), applies to any person who “commits an assault upon the person of another with a deadly weapon or instrument other than a firearm.”

Weekend arrest records indicate that Garcia’s bail was set at $30,000.

If formal charges are filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Garcia faces a maximum sentence of either two to four years in a state prison, one year in county jail, a fine of up to $10,000, or a combination of the three.
