Woman Arrested For ‘False Imprisonment’ Of Her Mother In Stevenson Ranch

A woman from San Fernando was arrested in Stevenson Ranch Saturday after allegedly imprisoning her mother in a hotel room off of The Old Road.

On Saturday evening, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a hotel on the 25000 block of The Old Road in Stevenson Ranch.

Upon arriving on scene, deputies reportedly determined that 24-year-old Mariel Rezner of San Fernando had falsely imprisoned her mother in one of the hotel rooms, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station.

Rezner, who’s mother is reportedly in her late 60’s, was arrested at around 7 p.m. Saturday on felony charges of false imprisonment of an elder.

The exact section of the California Penal Code cited in the arrest, 368(f), applies to any person who “commits the false imprisonment of an elder or a dependent adult by the use of violence, menace, fraud, or deceit.”

Rezner was taken to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station Jail for booking, where her bail was set at $50,000, according to weekend arrest records.

If formal charges are filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Rezner faces up to two to four years in prison, according to the California Penal Code.
