Passenger Arrested For Warrants After Driver Violates Traffic Laws In Santa Clarita

A driver who was breaking several traffic laws was stopped on the 14 Freeway in Santa Clarita, leading to the arrest of his passenger, who had several warrants.

Around 6 a.m. Sunday, a California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area officer observed a pickup truck towing a trailer in the no. 2 lane with no license plate on the northbound 14 Freeway south of Escondido Canyon Road east of Santa Clarita, said Officer Andre Ortiz, a spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.

“The officer conducted an enforcement stop based on the observed violations,” Ortiz said. “The driver yielded to the right shoulder, south of Ward Road, and the officer contacted the three occupants.”

During the enforcement stop, the officer determined one of the passengers had an outstanding warrant for child endangerment, DUI with a BAC of 0.08 percent or higher, and unlicensed Driver, according to Ortiz.

Reyes Flores, 36, from San Fernando, was arrested for his warrants, according to officials.

He was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, according to Ortiz.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
