A package was stolen from a Santa Clarita resident that housed a Christmas gift, but not just any gift, it contained two custom-designed quilts that the mom had ordered as a surprise for her children, according to Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials.

“Their dad tragically passed away one year ago and their mom had painstakingly selected some of his favorite t-shirts to be made into two custom quilts for his son and daughter,” wrote Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station officials on their Facebook page. “The family has already suffered tremendous loss, and having these quilts stolen, has added to the heartbreak.”

The words on the quilt read “My T-shirts and love to keep you warm 4ever, Dad.”

Sheriff’s Station deputies have been unable to locate or arrest the suspects, said Shirley Miller, Public Information Officer for the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station.

“We wanted to put the information out there in case there is a chance someone sees them at a swap meet or a garage sale,” said Miller. “We’d really like to help this mom recover the package.”

As of 10 a.m. Friday morning, the Facebook post had been shared over 200 times.
