A robbery suspect was arrested after she allegedly stole a purse from a Saugus church and allegedly bit a security guard.
Around 3 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to the 22500 block of Copper Hill Drive in Saugus regarding a robbery, said Deputy Mariela Picard, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“(The suspect) took the victim’s purse from a church and exited the building,” Picard said. “When the victim approached (the suspect), identified the purse as her property, and attempted to retrieve it, (the suspect) aggressively yanked it from the victim’s hands while simultaneously attempting to punch her.”
Church security restrained the suspect, allowing the victim to recover her purse, according to Sheriff’s officials.
“While being detained, (the suspect) bit one of the security members on the finger,” Picard said.
Wendy Miles, 38, a transient, was arrested for felony robbery and related charges, according to Picard.
She was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail with bail set at $50,000.
