Santa Clarita Arrests Decline Over Mother’s Day Weekend

Although there were fewer arrests in the Santa Clarita Valley compared to the previous weekend, the number of DUIs surged over Mother’s Day.

Between Friday, May 6, and Sunday, May 8, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office arrested 17 people, a decrease from last weekend’s 28, according to booking logs.

Of the 17 suspects arrested, one was for theft, three were for drugs and the remaining 13 were DUI-related charges.

One of the DUI arrests was for a suspect allegedly driving well under the speed limit on the 5 Freeway at Calgrove Boulevard.

Of the 17 people arrested, 13 of those were from addresses outside of the Santa Clarita Valley, according to booking logs.
