On Tuesday, deputies arrested a Santa Clarita robbery suspect on Lyons Avenue, nearly two days after the original crime.
Sunday evening around 5:50 p.m., a call was made from the 23900 block of Lyons Ave reporting a robbery, according to Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“Upon arrival, deputies learned during a verbal argument, the suspect became verbally aggressive and attempted to punch the victim,” Arriaga said. “The suspect then took an item from the display case and left the location without paying for the item in hand.”
At the time of the robbery and the following days, the suspect remained at large.
On Tuesday afternoon, a deputy patrolling the 23400 block of Lyons Avenue in Newhall saw a man matching the suspect description, according to Arriaga.
“Deputies detained the male and confirmed he was the suspect. The suspect was arrested for robbery,” said Arriaga.
The suspect, 50-year-old transient Carlton Cooper, was arrested on a felony charge of robbery with bail set to $50,000, according to officials.
