The Santa Clarita Valley experienced a significant decline in weekend arrests, with local law enforcement reporting just 15 arrests compared to 41 the previous weekend.

The reduction marks one of the lowest weekend totals in recent months.

Among the arrests, there was one case of driving under the influence involving a 71-year-old man from Seattle. Officers also reported one arrest for child abuse with possible great bodily injury or death, one for vandalism causing more than $400 in damages, and three for grand theft involving property or money valued over $400.

Additional arrests included one for failing to comply with registration requirements, one for possession of a controlled substance with two or more prior convictions, and one for being under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Domestic violence incidents accounted for four arrests over the weekend, while another suspect was taken into custody for carrying a concealed dirk or dagger. One arrest involved charges of elder or dependent adult abuse resulting in harm or death.

Of the 15 total arrests, six were misdemeanors and nine were felonies. Weekend arrest logs noted that six of those arrested were from outside the area, while the remaining nine were residents of the Santa Clarita Valley.
