Santa Clarita Sees Sharp Rise In Weekend Arrests

Santa Clarita law enforcement recorded a significant spike in arrests over the weekend, with a total of 37 individuals taken into custody.

This marks one of the highest arrest counts in Santa Clarita in recent months and represents a sharp increase compared to the previous weekend, which saw only 16 arrests – a jump of 21 cases.

The arrests stemmed from a range of charges, including 12 incidents of driving under the influence. Law enforcement also reported arrests for drug-related offenses, including possession of nitrous oxide, possession of controlled substances for sale, and multiple counts involving drug paraphernalia, particularly within prison or jail settings.

Violent offenses were also noted, with arrests for battery, assault with a deadly weapon (not involving a firearm), and domestic violence. Authorities reported six domestic violence arrests in total. Additional charges included vandalism involving property damage exceeding $400, shoplifting, disobeying a court order related to domestic relations, and carrying a concealed dirk or dagger.

Of the 37 arrests made, 24 were classified as misdemeanors, while 13 were felonies. The majority of the arrests – 34 in total – were carried out by deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. The remaining three were made by officers from the California Highway Patrol’s Newhall Office. Eighteen of the arrestees were non-residents of the Santa Clarita Valley.
