Santa Clarita Valley law enforcement agencies reported 33 arrests over the past weekend, a seven-arrest increase from the previous week.
The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station was responsible for 26 of the apprehensions, while the California Highway Patrol Newhall Office was responsible for seven.
Of the 33 individuals taken into custody, 22 were charged with misdemeanor offenses, while 11 were booked as felonies.
Most notably, 10 arrests were made for driving under the influence (DUI) charges; nine of these were for basic DUI offenses, and one was for DUI-causing injury.
Other significant charges included two arrests for burglary, one for petty theft, and two for shoplifting. Additionally, authorities reported one arrest each for vandalism, battery, indecent exposure and illegal entry, terrorizing/causing fear, and drawing a deadly weapon (not a firearm).
Domestic violence accounted for eight arrests, while there was also one arrest for assault with a deadly weapon (not a firearm) causing great bodily injury.
Drug-related charges included two arrests for possession of controlled substances or drug paraphernalia. Law enforcement also reported one arrest for cultivating marijuana plants and one for grand theft.
