Santa Clarita weekend arrests saw an increase of bookings once again, with drugs and alcohol consistently making up a majority of charges.

Between April 15 and April 17, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office arrested 34 people, an increase from last weekend’s 27, according to booking logs.

Of the 34 suspects arrested, 20 were for drug and alcohol-related charges, with 10 DUI arrests.

Other arrests that made the logs included reckless driving, burglary and embezzlement.

Of the 34 arrested, 22 of those were from addresses outside of the Santa Clarita Valley, or transients, according to booking logs.
