Santa Clarita Weekend Arrests Fall For Second Week, One Arrested For Kidnapping

Although there was a significant arrest for kidnapping, the Santa Clarita Valley had a very calm weekend in terms of crime, with only 21 arrests recorded, down from 29 the previous week.

Among the most serious incidents was the arrest of 23-year-old Malachi Foulks of Canyon Country for kidnapping. Foulks is being held on $100,000 bail.

Of the 21 arrests, seven were felonies, and the remaining 13 were misdemeanors. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) handled five arrests, while deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station handled the other 16. Nine of those arrested were non-residents of the Santa Clarita Valley.

DUIs remained a significant issue, with nine individuals arrested for DUI. Additionally, one arrest involved intoxication from a combination of drugs and alcohol.

Other notable charges included child abuse with the potential for great bodily injury or death, battery, and domestic violence. Two cases of domestic violence were recorded over the weekend.

Repeat offenses were also a theme, as two individuals were detained for possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. One of these suspects was already serving time in prison or jail, while the other had two or more prior convictions.

Authorities also rearrested one individual for violating probation and detained another for disobeying a domestic relations court order. Forty-three-year-old Heather Hutchinson was arrested for petty theft with multiple prior convictions.
