A stolen vehicle suspect was taken into custody after a brief 5 Freeway pursuit ended when the driver crashed going the wrong way.   

Around 1:30 p.m. Monday, officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) observed a vehicle driving recklessly on the northbound 5 Freeway at Calgrove Boulevard, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office. 

“The pursuit started on the northbound 5 at Calgrove, exited at Lyons, went southbound on The Old Road to Roxford,” Greengard said. 

The suspect entered the 5 Freeway at Roxford going the wrong direction and crashed, according to Greengard. 

After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody, according to Greengard.  

After CHP officers took the driver into custody, they learned the vehicle was stolen. 

It is unknown if there were any injuries resulting from the crash.
