A Los Angeles man was arrested after he allegedly fled from officers Saturday and crashed into two vehicles in Newhall after running a red light.
Around 11:20 p.m. Saturday, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers observed a black Kia sedan driving in and out of lanes while speeding on the northbound 5 Freeway at Calgrove Boulevard, said Officer Josh Greengard, a spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.
“An enforcement stop was initiated but the driver failed to yield,” Greengard said.
The Kia exited the 5 Freeway at Lyons Avenue, and failed to stop for the red light and collided with two other vehicles, according to Greengard.
The driver, Carlos Vasquez, 34, from Los Angeles, was taken into custody for felony evading, Greengard said.
Vasquez was booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s station jail.
