A suspect is in custody after he led deputies on a brief foot pursuit Thursday. 

Around 1 p.m. Thursday, a deputy had a suspect flee on foot from a traffic stop near Soledad Canyon Road and Ruether Avenue in Canyon Country, said Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. 

The suspect was taken into custody at gunpoint after he jumped a fence during a brief foot pursuit with deputies, according to officials. 

As of the publication of this article, it is unknown why the suspect fled the traffic stop.
