Two Arrested After Being Found With ‘Makeshift Firearms’ In Newhall

Two individuals were arrested in Newhall Monday afternoon after deputies reportedly found two makeshift firearms made out of flashlights in their possession following a routine traffic stop.

On Monday afternoon, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Juvenile Intervention Team (J-Team) were patrolling in Newhall when they observed a vehicle “not adhering to vehicle code” near the intersection of Newhall Avenue and Valle Del Oro.

After making contact with the man and woman inside, deputies learned that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license, and was on active parole.

“A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of narcotics, drug paraphernalia, pepper spray as well as two flashlights, but not just ordinary flashlights,” wrote Deputy Natalie Arriaga, spokesperson for the station, in an official post Tuesday. “These flashlights we’re altered to be used as makeshift firearms, also known as a ‘zip gun.’”

The flashlights had been disassembled, fixed with an action firing pin and metal chamber, and loaded with a live blank round capable of projecting a metal pellet out of it.

“These makeshift firearms have the potential to be just as dangerous as a normal firearm, and can result in serious bodily harm,” Arriaga wrote.

  1. What a lovely couple from Compton. Thanks to the demonic Liberals & Gas-Con they’ll be out of jail in the AM to continue on their merry life of crime! Who were they hanging out with here?!

  2. Thanks to the diligent Sheriff’s for getting these losers off the street if only temporarily. At least they know they are not welcome here. Stay in Compton.

  3. Using their skills to murder, they could have been inventing cars, rovers, planes, ships, medical devices like other successful cultures from the beginning of time! What a shame/waste, and then to blame their failures on other successful/innocent/productive Americans!

  4. And dems want gun control .. don’t they understand criminals don’t follow laws ??

  5. Republicans and decent Americans follow and believe in the 2nd Amendment. We have not forgotten 1/6/21 nor have we forgotten the entire demonic Liberal summer of 2020 in Portland, Seattle, NY, LA, etc.! Why are you diverting from the post? Damn excusers.

  6. Ray: Wouldn’t be surprised—the homemade zip gun wasn’t encased in a white flashlight——-
