A man was arrested after he allegedly carjacked an individual in Valencia Thursday and attempted to resist deputies.

Thursday night deputies responded to a report of a carjacking in the 24500 block of Nicklaus Drive in Valencia, officials with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station said.

“The victim reported being approached by a male who claimed to have a firearm and demanded her vehicle while she was seated inside,” Sheriff’s officials said. “Fearing for her safety, the victim exited the vehicle and contacted law enforcement.”

Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle nearby and encountered a man matching the suspect description.

“The suspect refused to comply with commands and attempted to walk away toward a residential unit,” Sheriff’s officials said. “Deputies deployed a TASER after the suspect continued to resist verbal commands and attempted to evade detention.”

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

“During a search, deputies discovered suspected methamphetamine on the suspect’s person,” Sheriff’s officials said.

The suspect was booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station‘s jail.
