Weekend Crime Arrests In Santa Clarita Valley Decrease By 50%

The number of reported arrests over this past weekend in Santa Clarita dropped by 50%, with weekend arrest logs indicating a total of 15 arrests compared to last weekend’s 30.

Between Friday, March 19, and Sunday, March 21, law enforcement booking logs reported a total of 15 arrests recorded by both the California Highway Patrol and Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station.

This total shows a 50% decrease in arrests compared to the previous weekend of March 12-14 with 30 total arrests. This indicates a steep decline in arrests compared to the 42 arrests made the weekend prior between March 5-7.

This weekend’s arrest logs reported 30%, or five of the total suspects arrested provided addresses outside of Santa Clarita, compared to last weekend’s 16.

Out of the reported arrests over the weekend, six were related to drugs or alcohol, with one reported incident of driving under the influence (DUI) and five for possession of a controlled substance.

Roughly 50%, or eight people were arrested on felony charges over the weekend. The reported number of drug-and-alcohol-related arrests decreased from 14 to 6 compared to the weekend prior.

One of the felony arrests reported over the weekend involved a burglary and attempted kidnapping in Valencia.

A man was arrested Saturday after he allegedly kicked the front door open to a Valencia home and attempted to kidnap the children inside, who reportedly did not know the suspect.

Francisco Delacruz, 31, from Newhall, was arrested on felony counts of burglary and attempted kidnapping, law enforcement officials said.
