Weekend Crime Reports Show Slight Decrease In Santa Clarita Valley Arrests

Arrests in the Santa Clarita Valley lowered slightly as our community entered the second week in November.

Of the 26 arrests made in the Santa Clarita Valley between Friday, Nov. 8 and Sunday, Nov. 10, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area office arrested six people, while the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department (LASD) Santa Clarita Valley Station arrested 20, according to arrest logs.

Compared to the previous weekend from Friday. Nov. 1 through Nov. 3, which reported 33 arrests, the current weekend shows a decrease of 17 percent.

The leading cause of arrests were drug- and alcohol-related crimes, including possession of drug paraphernalia and impaired driving.

Out of 26 arrests, seven were for domestic assault and related crimes. This is a significant increase compared to last week, where there were no arrests reported.

Other notable arrests made over the weekend include assault with a deadly weapon, grand theft auto, child abuse and reckless driving.

Nearly 54 percent of the arrests were people from outside of Santa Clarita including Seattle, with the other 46 percent being Santa Clarita residents.

Approximately 73 percent of the arrests were misdemeanors, with 23 percent being felonies and a few outliers that were neither, including parole violations.
