Woman Arrested For DUI In Drive-Thru Line On Christmas Night

A woman was arrested in Canyon Country Christmas night in a fast food drive-thru line for allegedly driving while under the influence, officials said.

At around midnight Wednesday, deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station received reports of a woman “passed out in her car in a drive-thru line” on the 26900 block of Sierra Highway, according to Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the station.

“Deputies responded to the location (…) and found a woman slumped over her steering wheel,” Miller wrote in an official post Friday. “Deputies could tell the woman was breathing, and it appeared as though she had fallen asleep.”

The doors of the woman’s vehicle were locked, so deputies began to knock on her window in an effort to wake her. The woman eventually woke up five minutes later, according to Miller.

“Upon making contact with the driver, deputies notIced a strong odor of alcohol and marijuana, and observed open containers of beer and wine,” Miller wrote.

Deputies proceeded to arrest the woman, 43-year-old Amy Heyart of Bakersfield, on charges of driving under the influence, according to officials.

Heyart was transported to and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail, where her bail was set at $5,000.
