A woman was arrested Saturday after she allegedly assaulted a neighbor with a tree branch in Gorman.

Around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to an assault in the 45100 block of Copco Avenue in Gorman, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The suspect… was reportedly involved in a verbal altercation with a neighbor, an adult female victim in her 60s, over personal matters,” Miller said. “The dispute escalated, and (the suspect) allegedly struck the victim with a tree branch.”

A family member transported the victim to the hospital for medical treatment.

Jennifer Cassara, 48, of Gorman was arrested on felony assault with a deadly weapon, Miller said.

Cassara was transported and booked into the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station jail and remains in custody as of Monday afternoon with bail set at $30,000, according to Miller.
