They will instead refer the case to Children and Family services
[view:node_ad=5]The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office has made a decision to not bring criminal charges against a 10 year old Santa Clarita boy, after he admitted to starting the devastating Buckweed fire that ripped through Agua Dulce and Canyon Country a few weeks ago.
The fire was started when the boy, who was playing with matches, lit brush on fire near Sierra Highway and Agua Dulce Canyon Road. This small fire was quickly fueled by powerful winds, and eventually burned out of control into Santa Clarita, destroying 21 homes and charring 38,000 acres.
“After a careful evaluation of the evidence, the District Attorney’s Office will not file a petition in Juvenile Court against the minor accused of starting the Buckweed Fire,” said officials from the LA County District Attorney’s office in a prepared statement. “There is no evidence of intent on the part of the minor.”
Instead, the DA’s office will transfer the case to Children and Family services, who will determine if any action is needed on their part.
