Santa Clarita Valley Economic Outlook Forecast Event Set For March

The Santa Clarita Valley Economic Outlook Forecast event is set to take place in March, officials said Monday.

“SCV is growing jobs and has completely recovered job loss from the recession,” said Holly Schroeder, CEO of the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corporation (SCVEDC).

Employment numbers continue to rise and there are a record number of jobs in the Santa Clarita Valley at 95,000, according to SCVEDC officials.

The SCVEDC is a private and public partnership representing the united effort of regional industry and government leaders, according to their website.

“SCV is also growing commercial and industrial developments with 24 million square feet in the long-term pipeline, 17 million of which are commercial developments, and 7 million are industrial projects,” said SCVEDC officials. “An additional 13.8 million square feet of new commercial development have been approved, but are not yet under construction, with Newhall Ranch accounting for the bulk of this space.”

In the past five years, an average of 650 to 750 new home permits have been filed in Santa Clarita, according to officials. Additionally, multiple housing developments are currently underway, including Vista Canyon, River Village, Skyline Ranch and Newhall Ranch.

“SCV is helping to bridge the gap in housing, which has become a major issue in both Los Angeles and the state,” said Schroeder.

Trends, including business growth, job availability and the average age of Santa Clarita residents, affect business, according to officials.

These trends are expected to be discussed at the Economic Outlook Forecast, scheduled for March 12.

  1. I’m not sure which Monday the officials KHTS are referring to in the above byline, however, tickets are already sold out. The byline is dated February 9, 2020 – unless the byline was “embargoed” and KHTS released it early which I highly doubt as the forum was publicized back in January.

Unless KHTS has a stash of tickets they are selling from their studios – similar to the Restaurant Row discount certificates?
