Governor Newsom has created yet another scheme to continue to push California off the cliff. He has spent over $200 million dollars to try to redraw our state’s political map by forcing a ballot on us this November. Your NO vote will stop this insanity. Here are 5 reasons why Newsom’s maneuver is harmful for everyone.
- Santa Clarita will be carved up. The proposed new districting will slice Santa Clarita. It would mean we would no longer have a unified valley. Residents on the east side of Santa Clarita would share their elected representative with folks living south of Wilshire Blvd. Are our priorities the same? Santa Clarita is 1 of 141 California cities that would be shredded under Newsom’s new Gerrymandering.
- Advocates for Proposition 50 claim the change is only temporary. When have our politicians promised a temporary tax increase that hasn’t become permanent? Do I need to say more?
- Currently only 9 of California’s 52 representatives in Congress are Republicans, a little over 5%, yet Donald Trump received 38% of the vote in California against Californian Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential election. Newsom’s creative proposed carving of our districts would mean even fewer Republicans representing our voters.
- Proposition 50 was written by politicians for politicians. In 2008 we voted for an independent California Citizens Redistricting Commission. Proposition 50 would repeal that and replace it with this concocted mess.
- Governor Newsom’s scheme to redraw the maps was secretly done. There was no input. No debate, unlike the redistricting in Texas. Even our California Legislature didn’t have input on the proposed new map.
These 5 reasons along with others are why it’s imperative to vote NO on proposition 50. Let’s stop Newsom’s power grab.

This is not just biased, it’s erroneous (or irrelevant). “Santa Clarita will be carved up.” So what? It’s already carved up (Valencia, Newhall, Saugus, etc.) and has constituents with different needs. This won’t matter. Is it temporary? It’s written into the law itself that it’s temporary. Other temporary things that lasted seemingly forever didn’t have that protection built in. Prop 50 WILL NOT replace the Citizens Redistricting Commission. It explicitly hands it back for 2031 (after the 2030 census). It will still have the same job.
Do I like that California is doing this? No. I hate that California NEEDS to do this to offset gerrymandering in others states. Why should we care about what goes on in other states? Because it affects California!!! If Republicans in other states are able to essentially steal our government through gerrymandering, it affects us directly. If Prop 50 help offset that game, so be it. It’s a temporary band-aid for a wound that never should have been inflicted.

Pure nonsense, California lost population and it should lose congressional seats to Florida and Texas who gained population. Texas redistricting is resembling the outcome of the last election and Carl is right any way you slice it.
It’s so embarrassing to see this news station constantly groveling over trump.
Nobody grovels over trump, thats just your far left news groups and trump derangement syndrome telling you this. The Republicans just have better ideas for hard working American families and they know what a woman is. Your hate and derangement wants you to rig our elections out of spite.

Whether there was debate on the Texas redistricting is irrelevant. The outcome was what Trump wanted which is more Republicans in the House. I’ll gladly be voting YES on 50 to combat Trump’s desire for more power.
California has 52 seats in the House. The Democrats control 43 of them. Democrats already have an advantage in California. Nothing else needs to be done. Folks saying that they need to vote “Yes” for it to be fair, it is already not fair in favor of the Democrats. By a considerable margin.
Do not pretend that California is not already gerrymandered.
