For more than 130 years, the White House has held its annual Easter Egg Roll. This event involves the president, the Easter Bunny, and hundreds of colorful hard-boiled eggs. The Egg Roll is a race where children push an egg through the grass with a long-handled spoon. This year, the White House made the reprehensible decision to prohibit the inclusion of Christian symbols while simultaneously celebrating Ramadan. This decision caused religious Easter egg designs from the children of the National Guard participating in the “Celebrating National Guard Families” art event to be disqualified from their own event. These guidelines resulted in the violation of these children’s free speech and in the exclusion of their Christian religious expression.

Compounding this horrific decision, President Biden issued an official statement that proclaimed March 31, 2024, as Transgender Day of Visibility. He wrote to honor the courage and contributions of transgender Americans and reaffirm our Nation’s commitment to forming a more perfect Union. He was respectful and supportive of the transgender community, but did this proclamation need to be on Easter?

America celebrated Easter just over one week ago. This holy day commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, having occurred on the third day of his burial following his crucifixion by the Romans at Calvary. Christians refer to the week before Easter as Holy Week, beginning on Palm Sunday which marked the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem. On Holy Wednesday, Judas met with the high priest and agreed to betray Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. This act of betrayal set in motion the chain of events that would lead to Jesus’ arrest, trial, and crucifixion. Maundy Thursday observes The Last Supper of Jesus Christ with the apostles and Good Friday remembers the crucifixion and death of Jesus. Jesus Christ remained on Earth for a period of 40 days after His resurrection. During this time, He made several appearances to his disciples and others, providing further teachings and confirming His resurrection. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God.

Easter IS a big deal.

Americans want all its citizens to be treated fairly and respectfully. We want our elected officials to be thoughtful and supportive of every segment of our community, but not at the expense of others. But President Biden does not show respect nor appreciation for the Christian community. His actions are contrary to the beliefs and moral values of this religious group. The Biden administration excluded Christian religious symbols on Easter but allowed and supported Ramadan ideology and symbols. Furthermore, Biden issued an official Presidential Proclamation for “Transgender Day of Visibility” on Easter, the holiest day of the year for Christians. President Biden and his administration has offended millions of Americans, millions of Christians. Be ashamed of yourselves.
