COC Fall Registration For Short-Term Classes Now Open

Students who are looking to enroll in the College of the Canyons Fall 2024 semester can now take on an additional course before the semester ends, choosing from nearly 400 short-term classes.

These five-, eight-, and 12-week classes provide students with the opportunity to get ahead in their coursework during the months of September, October, and November, said by COC officials.

“Taking short-term classes in the fall is a great way to get ahead at the start of the academic school year,” said Dr. Omar Torres, chief instructional officer at College of the Canyons. “With plenty of flexible options available, we hope students find the classes they need to reach their academic goals while providing the freedom and creativity to schedule in ways that best align with their other commitments.”

The added classes are available at the Valencia and Canyon Country campuses, and also include online courses to accommodate the needs of students balancing work and school, said COC officials.

In addition, more than 180 sections of tuition-free classes are available through the School of Personal and Professional Learning (PPL) with start dates throughout the months of September, October, and November. PPL provides career skills and lifelong learning classes to residents of all skill levels, at no cost, according to COC officials.

To register or obtain more information about PPL classes, visit the COC program’s webpage.

Students who choose to enroll in a late-start class at the college have the added benefit of being classified as a “returning student” for the upcoming winter session registration period. Returning students receive earlier registration dates, giving them an opportunity to select from more open classes, according to COC officials.

About Carl Goldman

Carl Goldman, along with his wife, Jeri repurchased KHTS AM-1220, Santa Clarita’s hometown station on October 24, 2003. They owned it from 1990-1998, and then sold it to Clear Channel Communication in 1998, buying it back from Clear Channel in 2003. Since then, they have rebuilt KHTS as a critical voice of the Valley. In 2015 the radio station moved to its new headquarters on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, in the original Newhall Hardware building. In 2018 an FM was added, 98.1, with its signal being simulcast with AM-1220. In January 2020, Carl and Jeri cruised on the Diamond Princess. Carl was one of the first Americans to come down with Covid-19. Months earlier he was impacted by Guillain Barre Syndrome as a result of a Shingles vaccine in September 2019. He is still in recovery from the vaccine.
