There were many reasons Alexander was chosen by the Santa Clarita private school as student of the week. His strong character, humble heart, teachable spirit and sharp mind were a big part of the decision.

“Every month is a new character trait that you learn,” said Alexander. “Legacy is always telling you how to act on (character).”

Alexander was taking a robotics electives class, which led him to the robotics team. It’s there that he showed off his sharp mind, and along with the team, built a robot using bluetooth technology, with two phones talking to each other.

He used his good heart by giving back to the community with trips to the Boys & Girls Club, Santa Clarita Community Center and Boys and Girls Scout meetings, explaining how this robot works.

And if that weren’t enough, Alexander also finds time to assistant teach a second grade church class.

“I love learning. It’s my favorite thing to do,” he said. “When I go home, I even try to learn outside of the school and have a lot of fun there.”

Alexander has been at Legacy Christian Academy for seven years, starting at the school when he was in the first grade.

“The teachers at Legacy make it a joy to learn. It’s all about how they (teach) things and make all of us think,” Alexander said. “It’s not just memorizing facts like most schools.”

Next week, Alexander will compete in the Math Olympics, as it is his second favorite subject at Legacy.

His long term goals include possibly becoming an internist, like his dad.
