The forum at James Foster Elementary is scheduled to take place in the school’s multi-purpose room on Thursday, Sept. 13, at 6 p.m.

Voters will have the opportunity to find out who the candidates are, what their agenda is and how they plan to represent their voters’ voices, according to district officials.

There are seven candidates currently in the running for the three seats up for election on the Saugus Union School District governing board.

Area 1, which is comprised of Bridgeport Elementary, Tesoro Del Valle Elementary and West Creek Elementary, currently has David Barlavi, Jesus H. Henao and Evan John Patlian running for the open seat left by Paul De La Cerda, who is not seeking re-election.

Laura Arrowsmith, a teacher at West Ranch High School, is set to challenge incumbent Board Member Judy Egan Umeck for the Area 2 seat, which represents James Foster Elementary, Mountainview Elementary and North Park Elementary.

Incumbent Board Member Christopher Trunkey is set to face Sharlene Rose Duzick to defend his Area 5 seat, comprised of Cedarcreek Elementary, Plum Canyon Elementary and Skyblue Mesa Elementary.

The midterm elections are scheduled to take place on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
