“Several roads diverge into several woods,” said 2018’s class speaker, Jorge Aguila, making a slight edit to Robert Frost’s poem “The Road Not Taken.”

“Some leading to immense debt,” he said. “Others leading to fame and fortune, and I, I took the one that no one has ever traveled by.”
The speech celebrated each student embarking on their own unique path after high school, and the experiences students will carry with them beyond the classroom.
Graduates Michael Burson and Robert Miller sang about breaking constraints form “the real world,” in their cover of John Mayer’s song “No such thing.”

Embodying the spirit of Mayer’s lyrics, “I want to run through the halls of my high school/I want to scream at the top of my lungs,” several students howled for their friends as their names were called, and ran up to congratulate them as they walked away with the booklets for their diplomas.
Principal Vince Ferry echoed Aguila’s speech, acknowledging all the different paths the graduates might take, whether it be going to a university, a community college, or the military.

Multiple students carried statements on their caps. Some had the logos of universities stamped on top, while others had jokes or quotes about high school.
At the end of the night though, each student walked away from Cougar Stadium, dispersing one last time as Saugus seniors, and taking the first steps towards the several woods Aguila spoke of in his speech.
