Seniors can come out and learn how to use Facebook to keep in contact with their loved ones and stay informed in their community Thursday, Feb. 16, from 1-2 p.m. at the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library.
There will be 18 computers freely available, and additional participants are welcome to bring their own laptops or mobile devices, as well.
“It’s great for people trying to connect with their friends and family,” said Julie Oshiro, Santa Clarita Public Library digital services librarian. “Maybe they don’t live nearby, or just want to keep up and see pictures.”
The Facebook training is free and open to seniors of all computer literacy levels. With Facebook being used more and more as a way for people to stay in contact and reach out to the people close to them, it’s becoming increasingly more useful to have an account and be active on the popular website, officials said.
This event is part of the Santa Clarita Library’s ongoing Digital Literacy Program that features workshops for users of all levels.
Coming up this weekend are some more great workshops in the Digital Literacy series.
“On (Feb. 18), we are having a Microsoft Excel for advanced users workshop at the Old Town Newhall Library,” said Oshiro. “(The workshop Feb. 17) is going to be a computer clinic where we invite users to bring in their laptops if they have any troubles with them running slow, troubleshooting or just friendly assistance using their laptop.”
