Castaic Area Town Council members are hosting their longest running community fundraiser, the Splash of Fun Run/Walk, this weekend. 

The 5K/10 mile event is open to all ages and will be held Sunday, April 26 at Castaic Lake. 

“All are welcome to come to the 5K run along the lower lake. It’s a gorgeous course and the Castaic Lions Club comes and cooks up a delicious breakfast for everybody,” said Flo Lawrence, co-chair of the Land Use Committee for the Castaic Area Town Council. “The 10 mile course across the dam is for more serious participants.

“This beautiful day at the lake chance for families to come out and enjoy this jewel right here in the Santa Clarita Valley.”

There will also be a 1K run for younger kids.

“We have everyone from elementary school kids to grandparents who walk or run the 5K,” Lawrence said.

The 10 mile event begins at 7:00 a.m., the 5K event starts at 7:30 a.m. and the Kids 1K event begins at 8:30 a.m, according to the news release. Awards will take place at approximately 11:00 a.m. following the pancake breakfast. Race day registration and check in will be available at Castaic Lake starting at 6:30 a.m.

“It’s earth day this week, you get outdoors, get sunshine, fresh air, the lake is beautiful, you get to meet and interact with other members of community, spend time with your family and eat chocolate chip pancakes,” Lawrence said.

The 10 mile/ 5K costs $40 for adults with a t-shirt, $30 without a t-shirt, ages 19 and under are $30 with a t-shirt and $20 without.

Proceeds from this event go to the Castaic Education Foundation, Boy & Girl Scouts, Castaic Lions Club, Friends of Castaic Lake, as well as all four schools in the Castaic Union School District.
