The party was held on Dec. 13 at Golden Valley High School and was attended by about 200 families who are helped by the foundation.
Every year the foundation has a luncheon for the families as well as choir performances from the Golden Valley High School Choir, said Kelly Unger a volunteer with the event.
Families would check in before walking down an aisle to applause, with students and volunteers cheering on the families whose children have fought or are currently fighting cancer.
This year, over a dozen restaurants from around Santa Clarita donated food to the event for the families to enjoy, said Unger.
The tables lining the main gym had coloring books and candy for children to enjoy during their lunch.
Santa’s chair was also set up in the man gym, giving children the chance to meet St. Nick and tell him what they want for Christmas.
In addition to the festivities, each of the host organizations donated toys to the children. The children were also be able to pick up hand-knitted caps and blankets from the same room.
“It’s a very joyous occasion for us,” said Rosa Zavala, a mother who attended the luncheon. “Michael Hoefflin family has always been like a family for us. It’s a good time too, to run into other families who do the same thing and catch up on what they’re doing.”
