Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station To Host ‘Drug Take Back Day’

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station is hosting a Drug Take Back Day to discard prescription medications, officials said.

Community members are urged to drop off unwanted medications at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, located at 23740 Magic Mountain Parkway, during the take-back event. Liquid medication will not be accepted, however.

This free service allows the public to anonymously discard prescription medications and also addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Over-the-counter medications will be accepted for disposal as well, according to an official release from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Bringing expired or unwanted prescription drugs to the collection site eliminates the potential for misuse, abuse or accidental poisoning.

Improper disposal of medications, such as flushing them down a toilet or throwing them in the trash, can be hazardous to public safety, public health and the environment.

The Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station is to host the Drug Take-Back Day on Friday, March 6, between 8 to 11 a.m.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station To Host ‘Drug Take Back Day’

  1. They should do this on the weekends and often because the time proposed is undoable for most of us

  2. It’s too bad that the Sheriff’s department had to eliminate the drop-off box in front of the Sheriff’s station because of items that were not supposed to be placed into the receptacle – such as needles.

At least within the SCV, Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital continues to offer a drug drop-off service. The drop-off box is located inside the main lobby- adjacent to the reception/information desk. There’s a slot where to drop-off your unwanted medications. It’s available when the lobby is open.
