Fall Savings! How To Prevent Injury And Stay Safer At Home

By Dr. Thomas Polucki

So, I woke up a little early this morning and realized it was the first day of fall.

And had to prepare for my guest spot on the senior hour on my hometown radio station KHTS.

And I love it when things just come together like this. Because this thought just came to me what can I do for the show on the first day of fall that would be good radio for senior audience?

Why not fall prevention?

So here are my top Seven tips for a quick read and if you want more information

But first and foremost, move carefully. Strength and balance can become an issue as we get older.
Since at least a third of seniors are on high blood pressure medication, be aware that lightheadedness and passing out with getting up too quickly from sitting or lying down can happen.

But the balance and posture rehabilitation protocols in our office can help even the most unsteady and arthritic patients stay safer.

Next on the list: Fall Savings Fashion…

So avoid loosely draping clothes that could trip you up.

And even though slippers are easy to put on and takeoff they can cause problems too.
So I recommend formfitting slip resistant footwear, even if you need to get an extended handle shoehorn to help get them on and off.

Then there’s first floor: Housekeeping.

If you can live on one level, it saves the risks of trips on the stairs and more serious injuries. And while we’re on the topic of floors, Keep the floors clear of clothes, pet food, extension cords or anything that may have fallen.

Just a few more details that you may need some help with.

Keep a clear well-lit path to the bathroom through the kitchen and to every exit.

In the bathroom do you know you have to have handrails and nonslip surfaces.

And in the kitchen keep everything you need within reach to avoid needing a fall multiplying stepstool.

Again, this is just a quick list and follow the link if you want more details and information for fall savings.

Introduction

Hi, I am Dr. Thomas Polucki, WebMD‘s choice for best chiropractor and functional medicine in Santa Clarita. And over the past 10 years I’ve managed over 300 Functional Medicine Practitioners across America as their Medical Director.

No doctor can guarantee the outcome of any treatment.  And I never do.

But I know that a lot people don’t have to suffer with fear of falling.

And, I can’t go into all the possibilities on how we might manage your case, here.

Because there is no one size fits all answer to any health condition.

Just a few simple rules.

For example, my balance patients get better results when they: Keep their upper cervical chiropractic appointments, to reduce common balance and posture problems that stresses joints. And follow their custom diet plans, because inflammatory foods can affect balance too.

Most people benefit even more with the right supplements. We often save people money with higher quality supplements because they only take what they need.

Finally, they do their home therapy and balance rehabilitation exercises daily. Because we encourage freedom from drugs, surgery, and countless doctors’ visits.

As far as I know, there is no other way to avoid injuries.

And for a limited time, you can schedule a free balance and posture consultation with Dr. Thomas Polucki, DC. WebMD’s best Chiropractor and Functional Medicine in Santa Clarita here. Due to the busy schedule, we require a $79 reservation fee that you may apply to any product or service.
