As Santa Clarita enters the third phase of the “Safer at Home” guidelines, the Henry Mayo Fitness and Health gym is set to reopen with new “Club Pride” cleaning procedures and social distancing rules in place.

Henry Mayo Fitness and Health is set to reopen Thursday, June 18 with new cleaning and social distancing procedures in place to help protect the health of gym members and staff.

“The health and wellness of our members and staff has always been our top priority, and we have taken extra steps to ensure a safe facility,” officials said. “During our closure, the management team has reviewed all cleaning products, cleaning procedures and standards.”

Officials with the Santa Clarita gym additionally noted that their re-opening strategy aims “to make your return to our facility safe, enjoyable, and adhering to all COVID-19 requirements and guidelines” while expanding upon their “already high standards and expectations for facility cleanliness and member satisfaction.”

Henry Mayo Fitness and Health staff refer to their new “enhanced cleaning procedure” as “Club Pride,” saying staff will receive training on sanitation guides and procedures and will “disinfect all major workout areas and touch points” on an hourly basis.

Additionally, officials from the Santa Clarita gym report that a janitorial team will provide “additional sanitizing and deep cleaning” each evening from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

“Medical-grade, EPA and COVID-19 approved disinfectants will be used for sanitizing and deep-cleaning,” officials said.

Henry Mayo Fitness and Health officials report that they will be requiring members to partake in social distancing practices before, during and after workout sessions.

“All members and guests will be required to have their temperature taken with a touch less infrared thermometer at the front desk before check-in,” Henry Mayo Fitness And Health officials said.

Additionally, members will be asked to wear masks in all non-exercise areas.

“Masks will be optional during moderate-vigorous exercise,” officials explained. “However, if you are not wearing a mask, you will be required to maintain physical distance of six feet from other members and staff.”

Officials with the Santa Clarita gym say they have installed hand-sanitizing stations and will be providing disinfectant wipes for members to use on gym equipment before and after use.

Some services, such as drinking fountains, showers, steam rooms, saunas, towels, massage services, the pool and Henry Kid’s Spot are not scheduled to be available at the time of the gym’s initial reopening. Additionally, changes are set to limit scheduling for personal training and group classes.
