How In-Home Hospice Care From Traditions Health Can Provide An Extra Layer Of Support

Officials with an in-home hospice care provider, Traditions Health Hospice, discussed the many ways that hospice care providers may provide additional support for patients and their loved ones towards the end of their lives.

Officials from Traditions Health Hospice, May Ronci, a nurse practitioner at Traditions Health Hospice and Executive Director of their Lancaster office, and Jim Holloway, vice president of operations in California, went on the Traditions Health Hour to discuss how hospice care providers work with families to assist in managing end-of-life concerns.

“Families should never feel alone when navigating end-of-life issues,” Ronci said.

Ronci went on to say that Traditions employs social workers and chaplaincy that may be capable of addressing funeral concerns and bereavement.

“The idea of hospice is that we help you fight a new fight and that fight is for comfort, dignity and quality of life,” Ronci said.

“We bring hospice to you wherever that might be. Whether that’s your home, or a nursing home or an assisted living [facility],” Ronci said.

Ronci explained that in home hospice care involved medical professionals, social workers, chaplains and all the equipment required to provide care that focuses on the comfort and dignity of the patient.

Holloway and Ronci went on to explain that Traditions Health Hospice focuses on family centered hospice care. Ronci explained that some families receive bereavement counseling up to 14 months after their loved one has passed away. This is to help patients not feel alone after a loved one has passed, according to Ronci.

Traditions Health Hospice also gives families special teddy bears to families who have had a loved one pass away to remember them by, according to Ronci.

Ronci also explained that hospice care is not usually provided to patients the whole day and that the family helps step in to take care of the patient. According to Ronci, Traditions in home hospice team helps teach families about how to provide quality care to their loved ones to keep them as comfortable in their own home as possible.

The officials from Traditions Health Hospice ended the Traditions Health Hour with advice that encouraged patients seeking hospice care to reach out and do their own research to find the best hospice care provider for their own situation.
