Oakmont of Valencia is hosting a “Laughter on Call” comedy show for its memory care residents this month, and staff members are also inviting Santa Clarita residents caring for seniors with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia to attend the show with their loved one.

Set to take place at Oakmont of Valencia on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 11:30 a.m., the event features lunch and a comedy show, according to event organizers. 

“We’re excited,” said Mary Dembkowski of Oakmont of Valencia. “They found that for seniors with Alzheimer’s or other dementias, one-on-one time with a comedian can really bring joy and laughter.”

Rather than making the event exclusive to Oakmont of Valencia’s memory care residents, Dembkowski noted that Oakmont staff decided to open up the event to the public as well. 

“We invite anyone in the community who maybe is caring for someone at home with Alzheimer’s,” she said. “If you’d like to get out for a nice little afternoon, we’re going to provide lunch at 11:30 followed by the ‘Laughter on Call’ comedy show.”
