Fun-loving Meatball is still waiting for his forever home almost three years after his initial rescue from the shelter, and following his spotlight in the KHTS Adopt a Pet series in 2017, the playful pup has now caught the attention of IHeartDogs.com.

An online store and community of 25 million pet lovers that donates a portion of proceeds to animal-focused programs, IHeartDogs.com published an article telling Meatball’s story earlier this month in an effort to help him get adopted.

KHTS Adopt a Pet - Meatball

Meatball

Now about 5 years old, Meatball was originally rescued from a county shelter by New Leash on Life in Santa Clarita about a year before the organization closed its doors in 2017.

Tails and Scales Animal Rescue, headed by former New Leash on Life employee Haley Walsh, was one of the rescues that stepped up to take in the remaining New Leash dogs in need of adoption, including the short and stocky pitbull Meatball.

Energetic and hyper, Meatball loves to play with toys and the water from a garden hose, wrestle with his large-breed canine friends and splash around in a kiddy pool. He also seems to thinks he’s a big lap dog with his humans.

The ideal adopters for Meatball would be an active, adults-only home with previous large dog experience and no other pets. Tails and Scales Animal Rescue is even including nine free training sessions and a 50-pound bag of dog food in his adoption fee.

Meatball isn’t the first KHTS Adopt a Pet dog from Tails and Scales Animal Rescue to be highlighted by IHeartDogs.com.

In a first for the KHTS series, a blind pitbull named Nikova found her forever home in Arizona after her compelling story and Adopt a Pet video were shared on IHeartDogs.com less than a week after their publication by KHTS in 2017.

Santa Clarita’s animal lovers can help make sure Meatball follows in Nikova’s footsteps by sharing this story, along with his KHTS Adopt a Pet video, with their friends on social media.

About the KHTS Adopt a Pet Series

Once a month, the KHTS Adopt a Pet series features an adoptable animal from the Santa Clarita Valley in need of a home. The KHTS Features team travels to different rescues and shelters in Santa Clarita to meet the pets and tell their stories in hopes of helping them get adopted. First launched in August 2016, the series has partnered with seven local rescues, as well as the Castaic Animal Shelter, to showcase more than 100 dogs, cats and bunnies, and has seen 99 — and counting — adoptions so far. The series was created by Melissa Lampert-Abramovitch, who has more than 10 years of experience in the animal rescue world and co-founded Madeline’s Angels Pet Sanctuary in Santa Clarita in 2016.
