Watching Einstein chase his toys confidently and melt into his foster parents’ arms filled with purrs, it’s hard to imagine where the four-month-old kitten came from.

Einstein was rescued from a hoarding situation at just three weeks old. His clearly neglected litter was found outside in the harsh summer heat, filthy, covered in fleas, underweight and battling an upper respiratory infection — all while separated from their mother.
“We pulled Einstein and his siblings from the Castaic Shelter after they were saved from a hoarding situation,” said Melissa Lampert, co-founder of Madeline’s Angels Pet Sanctuary. “They were so young at the time that the shelter just didn’t have the resources to give them the around-the-clock care they needed.”

As the smallest and sickest of the unweaned kittens, it seemed Einstein was the runt of the litter, but he was determined to prove he was “tiny but mighty” and is now totally healthy and thriving.
“Einstein is a confident, playful, silly kitten who is getting more cuddly every day,” Lampert said. “He’s been a bit lonely since his brother and sisters were adopted, and would do great in a home with other pets or kids to keep him company and play with him.”
Einstein is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on his shots. He has also been de-wormed and is FeLV/FIV negative.
“We don’t know why there hasn’t really been any interest in Einstein so far,” Lampert said. “He’s such a fun, sweet boy, and we’re hoping he’ll find his forever home really soon.”

About the KHTS Adopt a Pet Series
Every Wednesday, the KHTS Adopt a Pet series features an adoptable animal from the Santa Clarita Valley in need of a home. The KHTS Features team travels to different rescues and shelters in Santa Clarita to meet the pets and tell their stories in hopes of helping them get adopted. First launched in August 2016, the series has partnered with seven local rescues, as well as the Castaic Animal Shelter, to showcase more than 40 dogs, cats and bunnies, and has seen 30 — and counting — adoptions so far. The series was created by Features Director Melissa Lampert, who has more than 10 years of experience in the animal rescue world and co-founded Madeline’s Angels Pet Sanctuary in Santa Clarita in 2016.
