Supervisor Barger Issues Statement On Sexually Violent Predator Placed In Antelope Valley

Supervisor Kathryn Barger issued a statement on the L.A. Superior Court’s decision to place Christopher Hubbart, a “sexually violent predator” in the Antelope Valley.

Christopher Hubbart, also known as the “Pillowcase Rapist,” was convicted in 1973, 1982 and 1990 in Los Angeles and Santa Clara counties for raping dozens of women. He has violated his previous conditional releases multiple times, yet he’s still being pushed back into our communities, officials complained.

“I am outraged and extremely frustrated to learn that a third Sexually Violent Predator will be housed in the Antelope Valley,” Barger said. “The L.A. Superior  Court’s ruling on the ‘Pillowcase Rapist’s’ placement is simply appalling. Hubbart was already placed in this region in 2014, only to be removed for violating conditions of release. The bottom line is he belongs in a secure and locked facility. Community integration should never have been on the table.”

In 2014, Hubbart was released from a mental hospital and placed in a home just east of Palmdale amid opposition and protests from local residents, according to L.A. County officials.

“The unincorporated community of Juniper Hills is home to many women and families who work hard and enjoy peaceful lives,” Barger said. “Their lives will be turned upside down because of this terrible decision to house a known predator, Hubbart’s heinous crimes are beyond redemption or rehabilitation.”

A hearing to determine Hubbart’s placement location took place on October 1.

  1. That was a really incomplete article. What was done to prevent his release and make it safe for residents? October 1 was a week ago and he’s promised to Juniper Hills to terrorize us again.

About Carl Goldman

Carl Goldman, along with his wife, Jeri repurchased KHTS AM-1220, Santa Clarita’s hometown station on October 24, 2003. They owned it from 1990-1998, and then sold it to Clear Channel Communication in 1998, buying it back from Clear Channel in 2003. Since then, they have rebuilt KHTS as a critical voice of the Valley. In 2015 the radio station moved to its new headquarters on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, in the original Newhall Hardware building. In 2018 an FM was added, 98.1, with its signal being simulcast with AM-1220. In January 2020, Carl and Jeri cruised on the Diamond Princess. Carl was one of the first Americans to come down with Covid-19. Months earlier he was impacted by Guillain Barre Syndrome as a result of a Shingles vaccine in September 2019. He is still in recovery from the vaccine.
