Santa Clarita residents are invited to donate a “gently used” handbag to charity and receive a $25 or $50 certificate for a new one.

Brighton and Cobblestone Cottage are extending an invitation to join them in the Handbag Trade-In, their annual campaign to collect and deliver gently used handbags to women who have been struggling.

“The simple gift of a handbag can lift a woman’s spirits and help give her confidence when she is interviewing for a much-needed job,” said Jerry Kohl, Brighton’s owner and founder.  

The company’s goal in this nation-wide charity drive is to donate 15,000 bags to 15,000 women in need, according to officials.

“Many women have the good fortune to own a number of handbags, and have at least one

that they no longer carry,” continued Kohl.

Look into your closet, gather up gently used handbags and bring them to Cobblestone Cottage located at 24335 Magic Mountain Pkwy in Valencia between July 14 and 23 to receive $25 to $50 off a brand new Brighton bag. Any manufacturer’s handbags can be donated to qualify for the savings.

Residents may also donate a handbag without purchasing a new one, according to company officials.

All donated handbags will be donated to the Santa Clarita Assistance League Resale shop at 24364 Main Street in Newhall.
