The Planning Commission for the City of Santa Clarita settled a neighborly dispute over a possible metal RV garage in a residential neighborhood Tuesday night.

In the wake of an appeal filed by neighbors, the Santa Clarita Planning Commission determined that a homeowner in Placerita Canyon would be allowed to build an RV garage on his property, provided that he  also plants foliage to screen the structure from his neighbors’ view.

Measuring  just over 17 feet tall, 45 feet long, and 18 feet wide, the prefabricated metal structure would be used to park a private recreational vehicle.

Neighbors were concerned that the structure would not match the approved aesthetics of the neighborhood, and could impact a nearby oak tree.

The planning commission eventually decided to allow the project, provided that foliage would be planted along the property line to screen the garage from view.

In addition, the homeowner would be required to replace any existing screen foliage if it dies off.
