Pastor Jerry Cook discusses if one can be both pro-life and pro-death penalty at the same time on Politics and the Pulpit.

Cook says all questions need to be responded based upon facts and not emotion. There are two main political parties in the country, the republicans and the democrats.

It is hard to take the emotion out of the abortion and death penalty question.

However, one must divorce the facts from the emotion to reach a solution. Emotion can get the best of us and change our opinion and outcome if we guide with it. Once the emotion is out of the equation, you can deal with the facts.

“When emotions start to get out of hand, clear thinking is literally impossible. If you’ve seen some of the pictures or videos online of people on both sides of this issue. Sometimes, common sense comes through, sometimes common sense doesn’t come through. But it’s important to somehow divorce your emotions so somehow common sense can shine through” – Pastor Jerry Cook

According to Pastor Jerry Cook, one of the things constitutional conservative Christians do is try to take the emotion out of things in order to reason things out. Cook is not saying that Christians take emotion out of every single issue.

There will always be emotion in play as we as human beings feel emotions every single day. However, they will keep their emotions and spirit in check to persuade the other side concerning the error of their position.

You would hope the other side is doing the same. The point of a conversation is to discuss something calmly. When someone else is showing a lot of emotion such as cursing and yelling, the conversation will never be resolved.
