Santa Clarita Assemblywoman Suzette Valladares Announces Run For Re-Election

On Monday, California State Assemblywoman Suzette Valladares, R-Santa Clarita, announced that she would be running for re-election for the 40th Assembly District.

Assemblywoman Valladares publicly announced on Jan. 10 that she would be running for re-election for California’s 40th Assembly District.

“With the support and encouragement of my family, friends and community leaders, I am happy to announce that I’m running for re-election in the 40th Assembly District, which includes my home in the Santa Clarita Valley and the San Fernando Valley, where I was born and raised,” Valladares said.

The announcement comes almost a month after Valladares spoke on-air with KHTS about her past year as well as her future goals.

Sworn in on Dec. 7, 2020, Valladares spent the previous year focusing on certain areas, including her role in budget management, her stance on wildfire prevention and the responsible management of federally-owned land.

Valladares has pushed forward a bill designed to grant Santa Clarita exemption from specific requirements under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) to better reinforce the region against wildfire dangers.

The assemblywoman also proposed the Public Safety Power Resilience Act, designed to minimize the number of Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS) plaguing Santa Clarita Valley and the rural communities of L.A. County.

During last month’s interview, Valladares also said that in her political future, she planned to put a special focus on spending the states’ resources intelligently, purposely putting funds toward defeating what she refers to as ‘learning loss’ in students affected by pandemic-related changes.

This could possibly include raises for teachers and other government education employees according to Valladares during the interview.

These stated goals could potentially reflect future plans for Valladares in her new campaign to run for re-election in Assembly District 40.

  1. Wish her luck in view of the redistricting which may change her chances if there’s a higher percentage of uncivilized Liberals voting to make SCV more like Chicago, Seattle to LA, Baltimore, Minneapolis, Kenosha, Michigan, NY, Philadelphia, Detroit, etc.!
