EDITORIAL: KHTS Endorsements For The 2026 Election

With the 2026 election less than a month out, KHTS Owners Carl and Jeri Seratti-Goldman have put together a list of endorsements of who they are supporting.

Democrats have controlled the California Senate continuously since 1970 and the Assembly for all but two years (1995-96) since then. They’ve held a supermajority since the 2016 election.

There’s been a Democrat as Governor since 2011.  That means there’s been absolutely no checks and balances for over a decade.

Any government with no checks and balances can become a disaster, whether Democrat or Republican. Such is the case with the current leadership in Sacramento.

California no longer remains the golden state. In Santa Clarita, despite strong local leadership, our challenges are increasing.  Two of Santa Clarita’s largest businesses have announced they’re moving out of state: Princess Cruises and Woodward, Inc. They join well over one million residents who moved out of California during the past two years.

That’s why your vote matters. Sending a message to Sacramento that California’s current course isn’t working. Here are our KHTS endorsements.

EDITORIAL: KHTS Endorsements For The 2026 Election

  1. Thanks we agree as well!
Thanks for the Judge’s we always appreciate that!

  2. KHTS news team: genuinely great. Fires, traffic, road closures, the stuff nobody else covers.

KHTS editorial page: sold the historic Newhall Hardware building to a developer, packed up for an office park, then wrote an editorial about how California’s going downhill and everyone’s cashing out and leaving. Takes one to know one.
“No checks and balances is a disaster, whether Democrat or Republican,” says an endorsement slate with zero people from one of those parties. That’s not checks and balances thats a group chat.

  3. I’m one of the million who have left California!
Gasoline in my state is a dollar to have cheaper a gallon. My HOA is a $415 a month. My insurance has dropped. My registration has dropped California straightened up.

  4. Please explain and justify each of your endorsements. For example, Proposition 3 is not a new tax. It is an existing tax that only the wealthiest of us has been paying since 2012. You need to be making over $300,000 annually to be affected by Prop. 3. Over $750,000 for couples filing jointly. This money has been funding ALL public Santa Clarita Valley Schools since 2015. Prop 3 just extends that taxation. If Prop. 3 fails, Saugus Union School District alone will lose over $24 million annually. Hart District. close to $94 million annually. This will mean larger class sizes, less staff and less of what SCV parents expect in their public schools.

About Carl Goldman

Carl Goldman, along with his wife, Jeri repurchased KHTS AM-1220, Santa Clarita’s hometown station on October 24, 2003. They owned it from 1990-1998, and then sold it to Clear Channel Communication in 1998, buying it back from Clear Channel in 2003. Since then, they have rebuilt KHTS as a critical voice of the Valley. In 2015 the radio station moved to its new headquarters on Main Street in Old Town Newhall, in the original Newhall Hardware building. In 2018 an FM was added, 98.1, with its signal being simulcast with AM-1220. In January 2020, Carl and Jeri cruised on the Diamond Princess. Carl was one of the first Americans to come down with Covid-19. Months earlier he was impacted by Guillain Barre Syndrome as a result of a Shingles vaccine in September 2019. He is still in recovery from the vaccine.
